1 1/2 cups old fashioned rolled oats
1/4 cup all purpose flour
1 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp freshly grated nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter, cut in bits
1/4 cup brandy
2 lbs firm ripe pears, peeled, cored and sliced thin
1 tbsp lemon juice
2 tsp white sugar

Cooking Instructions

Preheat oven to 350F.
In a bowl blend together oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, salt, butter and 2 tablespoons of brandy.
In another bowl toss the pears with the remaining 2 tablespoons brany, lemon juice and white sugar.
Turn pear mixture into a well buttered shallow 14 x 12 inch gratin dish.
Spread the oat mixture evenly over the pears.
Bake in a preheated 350F oven for 45 minutes or until pears are tender and topping is crisp.
Serve with vanilla ice cream or cream if desired.
Serves 6.
